REDUPLICATIVES

These are called reduplicative words or reduplicatives. They are also sometimes referred to as doubles, rhyming compounds, tautonyms or echo words. Or how about blimey rhymeys?

Okie dokie, this is a goofie bunch of hubbub, fiddle-faddle, razzle-dazzle, mishmash, ticky-tacky, and a bit of argy-bargy, chit-chat, but no hanky-panky, nothing hotsy-totsy, neither namby-pamby, airy-fairy, or even bon ton, but rather somewhat willy-nilly, nothing fancy schmancy, but then some real high muck-a-muck, and maybe even an itty-bitty bit of mumbo jumbo, like eenie-meenie, minie, moe, but yo won't find any knickknacks, or bric-a-brac, or gewgaw hoo-hah, except maybe a protocol converter, or two.

It's just a teeny-wheeny bunch of jibber-jabber from my ragbag, but at least I am not a big-whig ragtag wheeler-dealer.

Don't get hoogley-woogley on me and beat feet, this ain't no fun run. Other than this higgledy-piggledy, it is not all helter-skelter.

And don't get all higgly giggly, there won't be any hurly-burly, hubba-hubba, hootchy-kootchy hotchpotch in this hodgepodge.

So be neither a hoity-toity nor a fuddy-duddy, namby-pamby, this is not a flim-flam, not really hosh-posh, nah, it's just an itsy-bitsy bunch of pish posh.

There is no juju, mojo, voodoo, hoodoo, hocus-pocus here, so don't get the heebie-jeebies or the jim-jams, and hurry-skurry off all pell-mell to Oshkosh.

Now you might believe the president's weave, but to me it is mumbo-jumbo, jibber-jabber, flim-flam, hocus-pocus, while he dilly-dallys and fills you with hocus-pocus, and phonus-balonus.

Uh oh, is it getting humdrum? Fuddle-duddle, don't teeter-totter. Nothing to hari-kari over. Get out your slim-jim on the whim-wham. Huh?

Don't tittle-tattle, take no potshots, keep it hush-hush and true-blue, and don't flip-flop.

Bring the whole fam-damily, hobnob and have some tictacs and chipdip, get a bit roly-poly. Sorry there is no hurdy-gurdy man clownin' around for the whippersnappers.

Don't be a hobo, or a hotshot, just dilly-dally, shilly-shally around a bit . . . do the hokey-pokey ... now start boot-scootin'... don't be wishy-washy, and send me some more of these words!

Hey deadhead, try some hubble-bubble, I'll try not to zigzag too much... we'll have a real wingding, stay mellow-yellow, git on down to the real nitty-gritty, and find some flower-power and get lovey-dovey... have a powwow, goto a picnic and have some tutti-frutti.
